Bad Home Repairs Usually Provide New Food For Termites

I was installing any new window in my house, when I noticed that there was termite damage underneath the window sill. The termites had destroyed most of the window framing and it needed to be replaced. The window and the wood framing was almost 50 years old and it’s time had ran out.Now the last thing that I want to do, is installed some new lumber, just so the termites have something to eat. If I don’t install the window correctly and replace the damaged wood framing, there’s a good chance that I’m just creating a nice dinner spot for the termites. This isn’t what I want and that’s why I need to make sure that I do install this window correctly.Any home repairs that you make on your own and you don’t know exactly what you’re doing or why you’re doing it, could be creating new food for termites. I don’t know how many times I’ve worked on other people’s homes who have done previous home repairs, over and over again, because they really didn’t know what they were doing. These home repairs actually added to the problem instead of solving them. That’s hard to imagine, but I can’t tell you how many times I see things like this each year. I’ve seen it in bathrooms, kitchens, garages and of course the worst spot of all, the exterior of your home.Any siding or stucco repairs that are made correctly, could provide great spaces for termites to live. If you hire a contractor that doesn’t know what they’re doing, you’re not going to be doing yourself any favors. If you don’t know anything about home repairs and you hire a contractor that doesn’t know anything about home repairs, you’re really going to be up the creek without a paddleIf you really want to avoid paying contractors over and over again to make the same home repair, make sure that it’s done correctly and the problem that’s causing it is actually solved. Otherwise you’re just going to be inviting the termites to the ultimate smorgasbord buffet. Sometimes a little bit of information can go a long way. Use this information wisely and you won’t be making the same home repairs ever again.
